NPP France Boycott President Mahamas Official Visit To France
28.05.2013 LISTEN

At an emergency executive meeting conveyed Saturday the 25th May, 2013 at St-Denis, it was unanimously and officially decided that its members refrain from all activities surrounding the President's Official Visit to France. In an official statement issue by the Communication Directorate of NPP France after the above meeting, it was made known to the organizers of the Presidents' visit (FEDGAF) Federation of Ghanaian Association in France that, NPP France will abstain from the participation of all activities.

The statement said, it is unheard of that the organizers or whoever would impose condition that would oblige everybody to submit his or her questions to the group for screening before Ghanaians leaving in France would meet with the President on Wednesday 29th May 28, 2013.

The statement said NPP France is in limbo as to why the organizers want to screen questions for a communication expert like President Mahama before meeting him. What do they have to hide? What do they want to see? What type of questions would be befitting or unwanted? Are they going to screen questions from the foreign press if he is to meet them?

The statement said, it is in effect going to be an artificial questions time with the President where our questions may all be unwanted and our being there would be of no use, since we would not be able to ask our desired questions. Better still, our questions might be so sensitive that it may provoke tension or not being answered.

(1) Questions on the Election Petition at the Supreme Court with its complications and delays. Is he and the NDC going to accept the verdict if it happens to go in favor of Nana Addo?

(2) His first official visit was to Turkey. 1.5 tons of Ghanaian Gold was said to have been intercepted in transit in Turkey, it finally got to Iran. The President of Iran, was on an official visit to Ghana to meet with President Mahama. Has Ghana being able to retrieve our $82 million worth of gold or how far has that affair ended?

(3) France has recently legalized marriage between same sex 'MARRIAGE POUR TOUS' (MARRIAGE FOR ALL) If he meets with President Francois Holland and he suggest to him that Ghana does its best to legalize HOMOSEXUALITY and LESBIANISIM with conditions attached, what would be his answer?

(4) Ghanaians in foreign lands are exempted from voting because we are outside our motherland, even thou the bill has been passed in parliament more than 5 years ago. What plans has his government to help us about 4-5million Ghanaians, to exercise our franchise or to vote in the next elections?

These and other questions from our members we thought could not have passed the selection committee's yard stick.

Mr Anyan Baah,
NPP France,
Communication Directorate
