Train Kills Man
A man was hit and killed by a train last Tuesday evening while he was walking on the tracks in Accra.
DSP Iddrisu Tanko Issifu, District Police Commander of the Railways Police station, said the man, who is believed to be aged between 35 and 38 years, was not immediately identified by eye witnesses.
Briefing the Daily Guide yesterday, the District Commander noted that the incident happened at about 4:30pm on Tuesday at the Tesano Park about a few meters away from the Tesano Train Station.
According to DSP Issifu, the police received a call that an Accra-Tema shuttle train had killed a man 'and so we proceeded to the scene and found his body by the railway line.'
When the police found the body of the man, he was in a blue jeans shorts and a red shirt but had no identification on him.
A part of the skin around the chest of the victim had been peeled off probably because the train upon hitting him dragged him on the track to a distant.
Also, the left hand had been mutilated while there were injuries on his forehead and legs.
The body of the deceased, the District Police Commander said, was conveyed to the Police Hospital and deposited at the morgue awaiting identification and autopsy.
