An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced three persons to 105 years in jail with hard labour for robbing a woman and her daughter at gun point.
The first accused person, Kweku Boadi, received 25 years jail term after he was found guilty of conspiracy to commit crime, while the second and third accused persons, Boakye Henry and Yaw Addai were sentenced to 40 years each for robbery.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty in a court presided over by His Honour Francis Obiri.
Presenting the facts of the case in court, Police Superintendent Kofi Blagordzi said the complainant, Rebecca Ofori-Kuragu, was a resident at Spintex, a suburb of Accra while the first accused was the domestic worker in her residence in Adogono-Nungua.
The second and third accused persons were shoe shine boys living in Teshie.
Mr Blagordzi told the court that on the May 27, 2012, at about 12:40am, while the complainant had closed from work and was entering her house with her daughter, the second and third accused persons armed with knives and toy pistols, entered the house and robbed the complainant of her daily sales amounting to GH¢ 1,400 after inflicting knife wounds on her.
The robbers also collected an HTC Mobile phone valued at GH¢700 from her daughter and left.
The prosecutor also told the court that on the 29th of May 2012 at about 9:00am, the police acting upon information that the second and third accused persons were selling an HTC mobile phone belonging to the complainant's daughter disguised themselves and requested to buy the phone in a barbering shop at Teshie.
While bargaining, the accused persons were arrested in that barbering shop and the mobile phone was retrieved.
'On the 30th of May 2012, the complainant and her daughter identified the second and third accused persons as their attackers. During the police investigations, it was established that the first accused gave out all the necessary information to the second and third accused persons to come to his madam's house at that hour to rob her, after which the first accused met them to get his share of the cash,' Superintendent Blagordzi disclosed.
The prosecutor said during investigations, all accused persons admitted to the police in their cautioned statements that they connived for the robbery.
