Assamese Youth Makes History To Conquer Mt. Everest
Guwahati, May 18 : A youth of Assam, Tarun Saikia on Saturday made a history as the first assamese to conquer Mt Everest.
Tarun Saikia hailing from Guwahati had scaled the highest peak (8,850 meters or 29,035 feet) at 5-30 am on Saturday along with five others and created a history for Assam.
The six member group comprised by a class XI student of Manipur, Nameirakpam Chingkheinganba, a mother of Arunachal Pradesh Ansu Jamsepa, David Zohmangaiha of Mizoram, Wangsuk Myrthong of Meghalaya and Kazi Sherpa of Sikkim had reached the world's highest peak.
Ansu Jamsepa, a mother of Arunachal Pradesh has also created a history as becoming the first woman, who scaled the world's highest peak thrice.
Wangsuk of Meghalaya and David Zohmangaiha of Mizoram have also made their states proud by becoming the first to scale the highest peak.
On May 17, N Bidyapati of Manipur became the first woman for the state to scale the Everest along with Anand Gurung of Sikkim and Nima Lama of Arunachal Pradesh.
Another Assam youth Manish Kumar Deka along and two others of the group will climb the great mountain on Sunday morning.
The group had reached the Everest base camp on May 5.
