Ghana Will Stand By Supreme Court's Decision—Asantehene Assures
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has indicated that he will support any decision made by the justices at the Supreme Court.
According to him, should there be any change of government a result of the court ruling, the triumphant party will receive his full backing.
Speaking after a courtesy call on the President at the Flagstaff House, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also cautioned the Executive arm of government to prioritize unity and collaborative effort in the governance of the nation.
He called on Vice President Amissah-Arthur, to work closely with this superior and advised them to look out for each other.
He appealed to two leaders to try and prevent divisions in their government and said his doors were always open for consultancy.
The Asantehene further urged government appointees to collaborate with their superiors as attempts to secure the social-economic development of the nation.
The President on his part said out that: 'I want to thank you personally for the encouragement and advise that you have been given to me, and all the past presidents from Jerry Rawlings to President Kufuor; you always shared very generously your good counsel with all of them and I am very happy to benefit from that good counsel and advise.
I would continue to thank you for that. Ghana is making progress even though we have been facing some challenges, and this government is purposed to resolve those challenges that this country becomes the country of prosperity that it has the potential to be.'
He added: "I will also be coming to you for ideas on how to resolve the Dagbon crisis. Your good counsel together with your brothers from Gonja and Mamprusi made quite ahead way in trying to resolve the crisis.
Unfortunately as a result of some developments the whole process was aborted. We have started some quiet diplomacy, and when it reaches a certain stage we will bring it back to you so that you can take the whole process forward to instill peace in Dagbon... We intend to find a lasting solution to the issue."
