Adu-Asare takes a break from frontline politics

Former Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare has decided to take a break from frontline politics to concentrate on other pressing issues.

The decision, according to him, is borne out of the tedious nature of his work as a member of the governing party's communication team which he says has taken a great toll on him.

"Its quite a tedious work; getting up in the morning usually four times a week, doing different research [before going on radio or television] really takes a toll on a lot of things so one needs to put a few things in perspective".

The news came as a surprise to many because Adu-Asare has been a regular panelist of Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen for the past five years.

He has curved a niche for himself as a forthright and gentle politician who commands a lot of respect from both his peers and media practitioners.

His 'boyish' way dressing earned him the name and he identified with both the young and old.

The one-term MP for Adentan has made enormous impact with his meaningful contributions to political discussions.

Listeners of the programme started pouring in text messages, enquiring about his decision especially at a time the political fever is seemingly at an all-time high.

When asked by show host Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong whether he was taking a break because he was not given a ministerial appointment, Adu-Asare said a big NO.

"Taking a break comes with a lot of introspection, deep thinking and looking at the outlook of life for the future. I might always come back to do what I do best," he added.

The former MP said he has concentrated many years of his life on politics and that he now thinks it is time for him to concentrate on his family and other issues.

Adu-Asare said despite his absence from radio and television, he will be in the background to contribute to the growth of the nation.

Meanwhile, co-panelists on the show were saddened by his decision and acknowledged his sterling contribution to Ekosii Sen in particular and on national issues in a whole.

A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP), Yaw Boabeng Asamoah commended him for being loyal to the NDC and wished him well in his future endeavours.
