Police To Reward Informants GHS 2,000 For Kumasi Murders

ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko,Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Ashanti Regional Police,has said the Ghana Police Service will reward of GHS 2,000 for information leading to the arrest of any of the perpetrators in recent killings in Kumasi.

Speaking on the Super Morning Show, on Monday, ASP Tanko said the recent spate of gruesome murders in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region, has prompted the Service to adopt this measure.

Last week, a number of unknown men shot and butchered two men in Ashtown in Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti region. The police have mounted search for the killers of the two men.

Prince Opoku Antoh 30, nephew of Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)was shot around 11:30pm on Saturday at the Dark City Pub, a popular drinking spot in Dichemso by five men suspected to be armed robbers.

The PRO zoomed in on the murder of Prince Antoh and said any useful information would attract a reward of GHS 2,000.

According to him, anyone with information leading the arrest of each of the 5 perpetrators will receive a GHS 2,000 reward.

That is if a person has information leading to the arrest of all 5 suspects, he or she gets GHS 10,000.

An eye-witness report said the assailants were dressed in black with one sporting a rasta hair-do. They were also armed with locally made pistols.

The men who were said to be on a robbery spree invaded the pub and demanded that all monies at the counter be handed over to them.

The Regional Police chief also responded to suggestions that the amount was meager.

'It is the responsibility of the citizen to give us information when [crime]occurs, we go the extra mile to add something to it '.
