Today is Mothers' Day, a day set aside to celebrate mothers and their contributions to the development of the human family. Mothers are care-givers. A good mother is there not only for her biological children but also for every child who comes into her life.
Mothers exert a lot of influence on children. They are usually the first teachers in the life of any child. They are the ones who make a home what it is. They nurture children in their care to grow and become responsible adults.
Happiness in the home is essential for the growth of a child. The love of mothers creates such an atmosphere. They provide good food for the family and also protect children from any form of harm.
Mothers take care of the health needs of their children. They provide clothing that gives the child a good image.
They act as good role models to their children. They are responsible for the physical and moral upbringing of their children.
They pass on success nurturing principles to their children. They teach children the most cherished values of society.
Most people who have become great achievers in life have attributed their success to the teachings they have received from their mothers. Every good mother strives to give their children a future. They work tirelessly to ensure that every member of the family is well cared for.
No mother worth her salt will eat when her children have not eaten. Every serious mother wants the best for their children. They strive to educate their children and help them get decent jobs.
We know from experience that discipline is essential for success in life. Mothers by instruction and example help children cultivate a disciplined life. They discipline children who do not behave properly but with love.
They establish standards for their children. They provide guidance for their children and help them make appropriate choices in life.
Mothers make a lot of sacrifices working very long hours to bring something to the table. They do this when some men spend precious time with green bottles.
Mothers are usually the first to wake up to perform routine duties such as sweeping the compound and ensuring the rooms are tidy. They ensure that children bath and take breakfast before sending them to school.
They may give the child a food pack or money to buy food in school. They may forgo their personal needs to settle the education bills of their children.
Mothers all over the world deserve to be celebrated for their tremendous contributions to societal development.
On this momentous occasion, I salute all mothers wherever they are. I salute my wife for being a wonderful mother to my good self and my children. May all mothers receive the favour of God in all they do. Happy Mother's Day.
