After the defeat on the National Democratic Congress NDC in recent Kunbumgu by-elections, the Northern Regional Executives of the party have come under heavy criticism and bashing from members of the party who describes the NDC executives in unsavoury terms.

Members of the party in the region are therefore calling on the executives to humbly relinquish their post to people who will work for the fortunes of the party and face their wrath.

In an interviewed with some members of party on the defeat of the party in the recent Kunbumgu by-election, members of the party describes their leadership as stomach politician, money grabbers and bootlickers whose interest in the party is to amass wealth for themselves.

A member of NDC's Communication Team, on anonymity, charge that, the region executives are taking members of party for granted, saying, 'Many of us have loss trust and confident in the regional executives. Everything is going awkwardly, nothing is working'.

The NDC member hinted that, the party's youth groups in the region are currently in consultation with the founding fathers of the party to stage a massive demonstration against the Regional executives.

The Northern Regional NDC executives have failed to retain the Kunbumgu seat, a seat the NDC held for decades. The seat became vacant when the Member of Parliament for Kunbumgu, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni abdicated the seat following his appointment by ECOWAS as the Secretary General of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) States.

The NDC's Alhaji Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu loss the seat to Mr. Amadu Moses Yahaya of the Convention People's Party (CPP) with over 2000 votes, the first time under the Fourth Republic, a party other than the NDC won that seat to represent the people of Kunbumgu in Parliament.

Though a lot of factors have been label for the NDC's defeat, a member of the NDC Communication Team in Tamale, Mr. Ahmed Farid reiterated that, the party leadership in the region is in paralytic crisis, saying internal wrangling and money grabbing among the executives has cost the party's defeat in the Kunbumgu by-elections.

He stressed that, the party regional executives are virtually doing nothing to consolidate the party's fortunes in the region, 'the executives are not in touch with the grassroots of the party, they are only interest in government contracts to the detriment of the overall party functions'.

Mr. Farid said, the party is fragmented in the region and if care is not taken come 2016 elections the party will loss all the seats to the NPP, 'we have loss 10 seats to the NPP in the 2012 elections and this by-elections to the CPP, so what does this tells us?. It is an indication of a non-performing party executives and machinery'.

The NDC's Tamale Communication Team member said, the defeat of the Kunbumgu by-elections is a disgrace to the President, John Dramani Mahama for the fact that 'he is coming from here (Northern Region)'.

He emphasized that, the party executives in the region needs a pure and thorough overhauling to re-ignite with the grassroots of the party to win future elections, adding that, the party youth are aggrieved for the nefarious and non-performance of the executives.

Mr. Farid lamented that, all the party executives are holding governmental positions in the region, 'so if all the officials of party are holding government positions then who will go and sell-out the party to the populace'.

He therefore called on the President, H.E John Dramani Mahama to as matter of urgency to remove all executives of the party who are holding governmental positions to enable them concentrate their work and energies on the party's activities.
