Electoral Commission Must Bring Pink Sheets To Supreme Court

The coalition of Ghanaians against electoral fraud (COGEF) IS calling on the Electoral commission of Ghana to produce its original pink sheets copies for the 2012 general elections so that all doubts and suspicions surrounding its complicity and collusion in fraud would be removed.

This refusal to produce these original pink sheet copies is really damaging Ghana's international image and causing the international community to view Ghana as a place where systems of transparency and fairplay are non existent.

We believe that the reputation of Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan and the entire electoral commission is at stake. If the Electoral commission as nothing to hide, why have they refused to produce the original copies of all the pink sheets so that Ghanaians can be convinced that there were no irregularities in the 2012 elections?

The behaviour of Dr Amadu Sulley ,the Director of Research for the Electoral commission and the affidavit of the Electoral commission presented to the court raises more questions than answers about the way the Electoral commission is seeking to shield itself from answer questions about the 2012 elections.

The Electoral Commission and its officials must not think they are above the constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

We call on the Coalition of Domestic Electoral observers and all civic society groups as well as opposition parties and the justices of the Supreme court to impress on the Electoral Commission to produce the original copies of the pink sheets for comparison with what has been submitted by the petitioners of the case. This we believe will lead to a speedy resolution and completion of the case.

Thank You
Dr Edward Nii Boye Ashong
Chairman
Coalitions of Ghanaians against Electoral Fraud(UK)
