The Association of Concerned Ghanaians in Europe (ACGIE) will hold a pre-demonstration Press Conference on Friday 26 April 2013 at the International Press Centre ( International Presse Centrum) in Cologne.
The purpose of the Press Conference is to explain the rationale for the planned demonstration which takes place on Saturday April 27 2013 to the International Media. This is to give the International Community a better understanding and appreciation of the issues that have necessitated the demonstration.
The issues to be addressed in the Press Conference include but not limited to the Election Petition currently before the Supreme Court of Ghana, the economic crisis in the country, the labor agitations, the high level of corruption in government, the seemingly inability of government to provide a clear direction and effective leadership and the unwillingness on the part of government to give Ghanaians in diaspora the right to vote although a Law (ROPAA) to that effect has been passed( Act 699) since 2006.
The leadership of ACGIE will use the ocassion to congratulate the Supreme Court for making it possible for the proceedings to be telecast live on Ghana Television (GTV) and also reaffirm its support for and confidence in the highest court of the Land.(Supreme Court)
The conference which would be addressed by ACGIE Representatives from all over Europe starts at 10 am and it is expected that over 120 Media Houses from the across the globe would be in attendance. Representatives of all accredited Media Houses are therefore requested to be seated by 9.30 am.
Signed
Kwaku Anane-Gyinde
