Accra, April 04, GNA - President John Dramani Mahama has approved the promotion of the new Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs, a statement in Accra said.
The statement, signed by M'Bawine Atintande, Director of Public Relations and Spokesman of the Ghana Armed Forces and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said: "The Chief of Defence Staff, Rear Admiral Mathew Quashie, is now promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral.
"The Chief of Army Staff, Brigadier General Richard Kwame Opoku-Adusei, is also now promoted to the rank of Major General and the Chief of Naval Staff, Commodore Geoffrey Mawuli Biekro, has also been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral".
It said the promotions "take effect from 28 March 2013".
