LAP-2 to enhance land management systems for efficient service delivery

Nsuta (Ash), March 18, GNA - The successful implementation of Phase Two of Land Administrative Project (LAP-2) would significantly enhance transparency and efficiency of the country's land management systems, Mr Kweku Sersah-Johnson of the LAP, has said.

Heb said review and enactment of appropriate land administrative laws and regulations are being carried out under the project.

Additionally, he said, it is building the capacity of land sector agencies, land owners and relevant Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's) and also streamlining procedures to take out the bureaucracy.  

Mr Sersah-Johnson was speaking at a day's workshop organized by the Ministry of land and Natural Resources for some chiefs and farmers at Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District.

He said LAP-2 would address critical issues impeding effective and efficient land administration to stimulate economic development, reduce poverty and promote social stability.

Phase-one of the project had laid the foundation through institutional reforms and the carrying out of pilot initiatives like customary boundary demarcations and digitizing of land records.

Madam Sarah Antwi-Boasiako, the Project's Social Development and Gender Specialist, said ensuring equitable access to opportunities and services through relevant and timely information sharing would foster participation and inclusion of women in natural resource management.

She gave the assurance that women's rights regarding land acquisition and registration would be secured under the project.
