THE MEMBER of Parliament for Assin North and leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon Kennedy Agyapong has cautioned that Ghana risks being plunged into a state of anarchy if the Judiciary fails to expeditiously deal with the petition challenging the outcome of the 2012 presidential elections.

The firebrand NPP legislator says the success or otherwise of Ghana's much touted democratic credentials hinge on how well the Supreme Court handles the case to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

According to him, the independence of the judiciary, at this particular moment, will be vital to the very survival of Ghana's democracy, stressing that any shred of doubt about the Supreme Court's integrity could put the nation's democratic system in serious jeopardy.

The controversial MP sounded the caution on Saturday when he featured on the weekend political talk show ' AKOKOABON ' on Hello FM , which is hosted by King Edward.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong said he sympathises for the nine sitting judges, because according to him, they have been put in a very dicey situation.

He noted that the sitting judges will require an extraordinary courage to deal with the matter, which can have either positive or negative political implications.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, however, blamed the chairman of the Electoral Commission, stressing “his selfishness, greed and insatiable desire to appease the current administration have put the country under needless anxiety and apprehension”.

The Assin North MP said he was very proud of the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the party, for the bold decision to petition the Supreme Court, adding 'this will help end the tyranny and dictatorial tendencies of Afari Gyan and his cohorts at the Electoral Commission.

He expressed the optimism that by the time the Supreme Court completes its hearing, the hidden agenda of Dr. Afari Gyan would have been publicly exposed.

“The guy has assumed certain powers in this country as if he is God onto himself, but I am happy that he will soon face the realities, innocent parents and children cannot suffer because of Afari Gyan's selfish interest.”

The Assin North MP, who has become a tormentor- in-Chief of the NDC administration, following his numerous exposure of corrupt practices, further chided the government for mismanaging the revenue accrued from Ghana's oil.
