Ghanaian born Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Frimpong is set to make his long awaited Black Stars debut later this month, Finder Sports can exclusively reveal.

According to Finder Sports' source, Frimpong will be one of very few faces called up by Kwesi Appiah for Ghana's crucial 2014 World cup qualifier against Sudan at the Baba Yara sports stadium on March 24.

The on-loan Arsenal midfielder has been on Ghana's radar for a very long time following his declaration to play for his country of birth despite having already represented England at the junior levels.

Frimpong was cleared to play for Ghana late last year but missed out on Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations squad.

The midfielder who is on a six-month loan at Fulham from Arsenal is hoping that his loan move to Craven Cottage will help him catch the eye of Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah and indeed he has earned himself a call up with some cameo yet impressive displays.

“I want to play for Ghana and, hopefully, I can start doing that very soon,” Frimpong told the London Evening Standard in a recent interview.

“That is my aim, to get into the squad. But for that to happen, I need to start playing regularly.”

Frimpong added: “I spoke to the manager recently and he said I should just carry on playing my football and see what happens for the next game. That is next month so we will have to wait and see what he decides.”

The best part of Frimpong's call up is that if he gets to play on March 24, he would be playing in familiar territory. He was born in Kumasi before leaving for the United Kingdom at a very young age.
