Government promotes education in Gomoa West

Apam (C/R), March 8, GNA -The government has provided education infrastructures and materials to promote education in the Gomoa West District during the last four years.

The District chief Executive, Mr Theophilus Aidoo Mensah, made this known at a parade of school children to mark the 56th Anniversary celebration of Ghana's Independence at Apam.

He mentioned some of infrastructures as construction of 65 educational projects, 28 6-unit classroom blocks, 9 3-unit classroom blocks, seven teachers' accommodation for some JHS and two teachers' bungalows at Gomoa Sampa and the Apam Senior high Schools.

The others are the distribution of 20,000 free exercise books, 5,460 mono and dual desks and teachers' tables and chairs and 9,206 free school uniforms.

The DCE said with these interventions, the pupils have no excuse to make than to learn hard for their own benefit.

The Gomoa West District Director of Education, Mrs Florence Inkoom, said  that schools under trees had been eliminated in the district.

Mrs Inkoom expressed regret about high teenage pregnancy in the district and urged all stake holders to help curb it.

The chief of Apam, Nana Effrim X, who chaired the function advised school children not to go to fishing at the expense of their education.
