The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Agona West Municipal Assembly (AWMA), Hon. Samuel Oppong has urged Ghanaians to pledge their support to Ghana in order to tackle the problems of the nation as it befits a 56 year old Ghana.

He said this at the 56th Independence Day Celebration held at the Agona Swedru sport stadium.

He said comparing Ghana to much developed democratic countries, one may say that Ghana is still young but he entreated Ghanaians not to give excuses to to justify the difficulties that we face, rather, we must see ourselves as coming of age and tackle the problems that we face.

He said once we have chosen the path of democracy, we must sustain it and pledge our selves anew to Ghana in order to establish accountable, responsible and efficiennt govornace.

The Hon. MCE who stood for the salute at the match past at Swedru sport stadium spoke on the theme "Partnership and Innovation for Building a new and a Better Ghana.

Hon. Oppong said partnership in our national lives should be evident in our quest to strive together for the national good by puttinmg the nation's interest first before our personal interest.

The MCE, Hon. Samuel Oppong made mention of some of the achievement of the municipal as having distributed dual desks, tables and chairs to some basic schools and some quarters for teachers. he also made3 mention of having eradicated 60 schools under trees and having distributed over 500 laptops to some basic schools in the municipal.

There were twenty-four (24) basic schools and eight (8) Senior High Schools who participated in the match past event at the Agona Swedru sport stadium.

Out of the participating schools, Blessed Assurance Schools placed third at the Primary sessions while Christ the King Preparatory school emerged second and Kwagyir Aggrey Academy placing first. Good News preparatory School place first in the J. H. S. while Happy Home School place second and again Kwagyir Aggrey Academy placed first.

Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) placed first while Greenfield school place second and Nana Khadhija Islamic S.H.S. came third in this years fifty-sixth independence celebration held at the Agona Swedru Sport Stadium.

Presnt at the function was the MCE, Hon. Samuel Oppong, the municipal Educational Director, Francis Obeng Ampadu, the divisional commander of Swedru, ACP Owusu Donyina, the Agona Swedru Omanhene, Ogidigram Asiedu Botwe the second and many other dignitories.
