Accra, Nov 19, GNA - The Korle-Bu Challenge Cup match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Division One League campaigners Feyenord Academy at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday could not travel the full 90 minutes due to poor visibility.

Referee Joseph Lamptey blew off the match after 70 minutes during which each side had scored a goal to tie the match at one all.

The match which was organised to raise funds for the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the premier health institution saw Feyenord enjoying greater possession of the ball, leaving the defending league champions to chase their shadows.

Hearts paraded their regular side with the likes of Amankwah Mireku, Dan Quaye Emmanuel Osei, Wisdom Abbey, Frank Turkson in the line up, but could not hold on to the ball and allowed their opponents to dictate the pace.

Though Feyenord were the better side, their game was only concentrated in midfield, as they hardly broke into the Hearts defence. Abbey on the other hand could have opened the scores in the 15th and 27th minute but he failed to utilise the fine chances that fell to him.

Both teams could not score till the end of the first half and on resumption, the division one side, with an average age of 18, had the opener through a penalty converted by Danladi Sherif in the 47th minute.

The Hearts players protested for some minutes, claiming the penalty was not a perfect one because the striker had taken a dive in the 18-yard box to simulate the referee.

Hearts equalised through Frank Turkson in the 64th minute when Mireku's cross landed in his path and the left footed player thundered a shot with his familiar foot past keeper McCarthy Philemon in post for Feyenord. In the 70th minute referee Joseph Lamptey brought proceedings to an end as darkness engulfed the stadium leaving the fans disappointed.
