Fiapre (B/A), Feb. 21, GNA - Prince Amankwaa, a Mechanic has appeared before a Fiapre Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding three friends of about GH¢6,700 under the pretext of acquiring Swedish visas for them.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted GH¢7,000 bail to re-appear on February 27.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) MawunyoNanegbe, told the court presided over by Mr Benjamin Owusu that complainant is a businessman in Sunyani while the accused resides in Accra.

He said January the accused met the complainant in Sunyani and during interaction he informed him that he could get him a visa to travel to Sweden.

The prosecutor said the complainant became interested and informed two other people KyeremehMinta and KojoYeboah who also expressed interest.   

He said the accused charged them GH¢6,500 each but succeeded in collecting GHC6, 700 from them as part payment.

ASP Nanegbe said the accused later brought two visas to the complainant but when it was cross-checked they noticed that was fake.

He said the complainant reported the matter to the police and accused was apprehended in Accra and brought to Sunyani and after investigations, he was charged with the offence.
