Winneba (C/R), Feb. 8, GNA - The Afutu citizens living in Cape Coast have expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating Mr E.K.T. Addo, National Commission for Civic Education member, as the Central Regional Minister-designate.

Neenyi Ayikwei, spokesperson for Afutu citizens said Mr Addo's nomination was a reward for hard and dedicated work.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba, Neenyi Ayikwei said Mr Addo was one political activist in the Central Region who had remained faithful and resolute to the course of the region in many capacities, sometimes outside mainstream political activities.

He said Mr Addo had been a serious political activist whose strategies have helped in the fortunes of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.

He said Mr Addo had remained quiet without scheming for positions or favours either from the government or from the party until his current nomination.

Neenyi Ayikwei appealed to people who were interfering with the nomination to stop.

'We trust when given the nod by the Appointment Committee of Parliament Mr Addo would bring to bear his enormous organisational abilities on the activities of the Regional Coordinating Council to improve the lives of the people in the region.'

He assured him of their unflinching support.
