Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - Police presence has reduced at the premises of the Supreme Court ahead of hearing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) electoral petition on Thursday in Accra, compared to previous days.

The police screened everybody entering the court premises either for judicial activities or otherwise, including officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and NPP that are engaged in a case over the 2012 presidential results, brought before the Supreme Court by the NPP.

Police personnel were seen on top of their vehicles outside the court premises, while the pavement that stretched from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice building traffic light to the Supreme Court gate was barricaded.

Judicial staff was seen going about their normal court duties, while lawyers and their clients moved about discharging their normal duties.

Among other requests, the Court by unanimous decision on Tuesday asked the representatives NPP, who petitioned the court on results of the presidential polls, to furnish the Electoral Commission (EC) and President John Mahama with better particulars of claims with respect to the alleged electoral irregularities.
