The fairytale run of Cape Verde's debut Africa Cup of Nations appearance has generated much interest as they meet Ghana in the quarter-finals.

Kick off is at 15:00 GMT at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Though, the Black Stars are firm favourites, they are not getting ahead of themselves with a semi-final place up for grabs.

Despite beating the Blue Sharks in a friendly back in November, Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah is wary of the West African islanders who have upset the odds at their debut tournament.

“Cape Verde are coming to the game a very strong team but with no pressure on them at all,” Appiah said on Friday.

“They've got a strong team. The approach and even the tactics they are playing now is not the same like what we saw in the friendly game. They are not a team I can say we will walk over them.”

For Lucio Antunes, the coach of Cape Verde, meeting the Black Stars is a challenge is he relishing.

"We have played three good games. We came here very determined, and I'm very happy about what we have achieved."

“They [Ghana] were the strongest team in Group B,” Antunes said.

“We are happy to play against them because they are one of the best in Africa and at this stage of the competition we have to come up against such teams. We will now simply keep on working hard and try to win the next game."
