Ejisu (Ash) Jan 31, GNA - The Ejisu- Juaben Directorate of Ghana Education Service in the Ashanti Region, on Thursday took delivery of 1,000 library books valued at GHC 8,000 for distribution to schools.

Donated by the Kubi Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in the US, the books are meant to help pupils cultivate the habit of reading for better academic performance.

Presenting the books to the Directorate at Ejisu Mr. Kwame Appiah Kubi, founder and President of the Foundation, said the group placed premium on children's education, particularly reading skills as it formed the pivot of better academic performance of pupils.

He pledged the donor's commitment to donate at least one hundred reading books each year to selected pupils in the country.

Mr. Appiah Kubi appealed to school authorities of beneficiary schools to make maximum use of the books and not to keep them on the shelves to gather dust.

Madam Gertrude Mensah, Ejisu Juaben Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service, commended the foundation for their kind gesture and promised to give the books to some of the basic schools in the municipality.

She urged other bodies to learn from what the Kubi foundation had done to support the government to provide quality education in the area.
