Accra, Jan. 30, GNA - Members of the Accra Chapter of the Lawra Youngsters Association have congratulated President John Dramani Mahama on his assumption of the highest office of the land.
In a statement signed by Augustine Saakuur-Karbo, President of the branch and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, the group lauded the President for gradually rising through the ranks from his humble beginning as MP for Bole-Bamboi to the presidency.
The statement appealed to President Mahama to pay particular attention to the three northern regions by helping to alleviate poverty.
The statement entreated President Mahama to pay particular attention to development needs of the Upper West Region such as the Kaaba Dam, and the upgrading of the Lawra District Hospital to a Polyclinic.
The statement also congratulated Mr Sampson Abu, District Chief Executive of Lawra for being elected as MP for Lawra Constituency.
'Mr Sampson Abu has performed creditable as a District Chief Executive and we have confidence in him to also succeed as a Member of Parliament and champion the development agenda of the Lawra District as a whole', the statement read.
