The Members, friends and following of the NDC defied the treachery of the snowy cold weather to join in their numbers to celebrate the party's victory at the last general elections in Ghana with a victory soiree at the Tottenham Green Leisure Centre in North London on Saturday , 19 January,2013 from 4.00 p.m. till early hours of last Sunday.

The evening's event was chaired by Mrs Mary Osabutey, the Chapter's Women Organiser. When she welcomed celebrants to the occasion ,she reminded them that it was a 'double-double' celebration marking the triumphant continuity of the 4th John of the 4th Republic of Ghana and also the 20th anniversary of the 4th Republic.

The soiree was animated with the presence of the Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, HE Prof. Kwaku Danso-Boafo, Deputy High Commissioner, HE Mrs Elizabeth Nicole and staff at the Mission.

In a remark to toast the occasion, Prof. Danso-Boafo commended members of hard work done for such victory and called for unity among members of the party and all Ghanaians to double effort to fulfil what we have set ourselves for national development and also meet the high expectations of all Ghanaians.

In a twist of events , Mr Owusu Banahene, a staunch NPP Activist and past parliamentary aspirant for Kwabre West was so moved by the spirit of brotherhood and resolve for national development by the members of NDC that he renounced his membership of NPP and joined the NDC.

With a resolving tone he said to the attentive gathering; 'I had travelled to Ghana for the general elections and I voted for NPP but it is regrettable, I did not vote wisely. I have been moved by what I have seen and experienced by a brief association with members of NDC.

I have phoned my mum and mentioned to her that I and the family are joining NDC from this very hour because if you can't beat them you join them!' The NDC Chapter leadership warmly welcomed him to the ever growing family of the Congress.

A truly an evening of junketing with less talk and more merry making. At a point the Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs Nicole, could not help herself but to jerk with Azonto skills with Alhaji Abass and the teeming celebrants.

Goodwill messages were received from branches including Milton Keynes, Liverpool, and Luton and also from the John Dramani Mahama (JDM) Fun club.

At the close the victory soiree, the jubilant members wished themselves more of such fortune and treat at each cycle of general elections in Ghana.
