Last year recorded many forms of killings reported across the country. With just eight days in 2013, Ashanti Regional Police have begun investigations into the brutal murder of one Akua Frimpong by her uncle, Stephen Owusu Afriyie in Atwima Techiman over a relationship dispute.
According to the police, the suspect Stephen Owusu Afriyie lived with his niece, Akua Frimpong at Atwima Techiman and there had been a disagreement between them over a young man the deceased was dating.
At about 12 midnight, Afriyie entered the deceased's bedroom and slashed her throat; killing her instantly.
Ashanti Regional PRO of the police ASP Mohammed Tanko said Afriyie's actions attracted many people who beat him up and sent him to the Sutreso Police and after to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is receiving treatment under police watch.
The remains of the deceased has since been deposited at the hospital's morgue. According to ASP Tanko, the police cannot confirm whether Afriyie murdered his niece because of the scuffle between them. He however says investigations are still ongoing.
