A Concerned Comrade's Open Letter To The CPP

Dear Comrades,
Tens of thousands of Comrades have written to me in recent weeks questioning our spirit, determination and love for our great party the Conventions Peoples Party. Unfortunately the 2012 elections did not worked out as I hoped. I am writing this letter to my fellow comrades on facebook to share with the leadership of our party in the capacity in which I am. (A Foot Soldier and A Comrade).

I recommend the party holds its national congress to elect the leadership of the party and flag bearer 2 years before 2016, so that our new leader has ample time to re-consolidate our team, renew our party and our program, and move forward towards the next election.

To The Members of My Party (Comrades): we've done remarkable things together in the past years. It has been a privilege to be part of the Conventions Peoples Party and I am most grateful for your confidence, your support, and the endless hours of volunteer commitment you have devoted to the socialist cause.

There will be those who will try to persuade you to give up our socialist cause. But that cause is much bigger than any one leader. Answer them by recommitting with energy and determination to our work. Remember our proud history of social justice, universal health care, public pensions and making sure no one is left behind. Let's continue to move forward. Let's demonstrate in everything we do in the four years before us that we are ready to serve our beloved country as its next government come 2016.

To Our Parliamentarians Who Lost: Let's demonstrate in everything we do in the next four years before us that we are great sports men and women who believes in accepting the will of the people. There will be those who will mock us but Answer them by recommitting with energy and determination in making your constituencies a better place. Make sure no one is left behind in re-building our wards and cells in various constituencies. Let's continue to move our party forward.

To The Foot Soldiers: lets us renew our pledge and strengthen our spirit, determination and love for our party and with our lives we should work to make things better not bitter. Hope and optimism have defined most political parties and I continue to be hopeful and optimistic about the Conventions Peoples Party. Foot soldiers have been a great source of inspiration for our great party. I have met and talked with so many of you about your dreams, your frustrations, and your ideas for change. More and more, you are engaging in politics because you want to change things for the better. Many of you have placed your trust in our party. I want to share with you my belief in your power to change this party and this country. There are great challenges before you, from the overwhelming unfairness that excludes so many from our collective decision making, and the changes necessary to build a more inclusive and united Conventions Peoples Party. I believe in you. Your energy, your vision, your passion for justice is exactly what this great Conventions Peoples Party needs today.

And Finally, To Our Senior Comrades: Ghana is a great country, one of the hopes of the world. We can be a better one – a country of greater equality, justice, and opportunity. We can build a prosperous economy and a society that shares its benefits more fairly.

We can look after our seniors. We can offer better futures for our children. We can do our part to save the world's environment. We can restore our good name in the world. We can do all of these things because we finally have a united Nkrumahist front at the national level where there are real choices; where your vote matters; where working for change can actually bring about change.

In the months and years to come, young comrades will put a compelling new alternative to you. My senior comrades in our party there are an impressive, committed team. Give them a careful hearing; consider the alternatives; and consider that we can be a better and more competitive party by working together.

Don't let them down, don't bully them, don't under estimate their level of intelligence and don't send them away because we need every one of them come 2016 .

My Senior Comrades, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world.

Best Regards,
Comrade Nii Ayitey
