Lordina Weeps At Aliu's Tomb

First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, on a two day campaign tour of the Northern region has paid a courtesy call on Hajia Ramatu Mahama, former second lady and widow of the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama at the family home in Tamale.

Madam Lordina, who herself is a family friend of the late former Vice President, commiserated with the widow, assuring her of her continuous support to the family.

The first lady also took the opportunity to visit the tomb of the late former Vice President where she said a word of prayer for the departed. Emotions however took a better part of Madam Lordina who burst in uncontrollable tears.

Alhaji Mustapha Ali, former Northern regional minister, on behalf of the bereaved family thanked the first lady and her entourage for remembering to call on them.

He revealed that Mrs. Lordina Mahama has been a family friend of the Mahamas since her youthful days in Tamale. He recalled how he, Alhaji Mustapha Ali, grew-up together with the first lady in Tamale and the virtues of her, observing that the first lady is caring, considerate, and highly sociable.

The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama passed away at the Cardiac unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on the 16th of November and was buried at his home in Tamale.

Others in the entourage of the first lady's entourage included; Madam Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Hajia Fati Jawula, Ambassador to Denmark, Hajia Gariba Boya, Deputy Minister of Women and Children's Affairs, Mr. Moses Mabengba, Northern regional Minister and Hajia Zaynab Mahama, First Deputy National Women's Organiser of the NDC.
