After stealing, Fiakpoi 20 hid himself in a deep freezer and he nearly got frozen. He was, however, located after an intensive search. Immediately the Judge, Mr Williwise Kyeremeh pronounced the sentence Fiakpoi broke down in tears pleading, and thereby attracting more people to the court.

Despite his tears, officials of the court dragged him to the court's cell to await his journey to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons. Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Elizabeth Alormatu told the court that the complainant Mr Mike Nana Agyei Danchie was the West African Coordinator of International Sports and Culture Association, who resided at Gbawe in Accra.

On October 20, Mr Danchie and his wife locked up all their rooms and left for work. Fiakpoi and his accomplices armed themselves with two screwdrivers and two hammers, which were concealed in a bag and scaled the wall into the house.

They broke into the complainant's four rooms and stole a lap top computer with its accessories, a car cassette player, a Sony video deck, wall clock, one Ghanaian passport and 1,350 Euros.

The Prosecution said luck eluded Fiakpoi and his accomplices when a neighbour spotted them and raised the alarm.

Fiakpoi sought refuge in a deep freezer in one of the rooms while his accomplices escaped.

The Prosecution said during a search in the rooms, Fiakpoi was found hidden in a deep freezer.

Fiakpoi was handed over to a Police Patrol Team. The convict in his caution statement admitted the offence but declined to tell the Police, who his accomplices were.
