Funeral Prayer Service For Late Aliu Mahama Underway In Accra

The mortal remains of the late former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has arrived at the National Independence Square in Accra as official funeral prayer service for the late statesman takes off.

The sad event, which is being held under the auspices of His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, has recorded great patronage from former ministers of state under the erstwhile President John Agyekum Kufuor-NPP Administration, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Council of State, Ambassadors and High Commissioners among other dignitaries.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to make final remarks to formally bid his friend farewell.

The former Vice President Aliu Mahama will be flown to his home and be buried in Tamale right after the funeral service ceremony in accra.

Former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama passed on at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) on Friday.

Alhaji Mahama who was on admission at the Cardiothoracic Centre had been receiving Intensive Care until his death.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama was the Vice President for eight years under the erstwhile Kufuor administration.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama born on 3rd March 1946 in Yendi was Vice-President of Ghana from 7 January 2001 to 7 January 2009.

He was Sixty-Six(66)-Years.
