Accra, Oct. 20, GNA - Nana Arko-Cole, President of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of Ghana School of Marketing (GSM) on Monday said agreements had been reached to merge students in accredited institutions offering Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) programmes in Ghana under one body by next year.

He said the body, which would be called the Chartered Institute of Marketing Students Association of Ghana (CIMSAG) would be tasked to promote the interest and rights of all marketing students in the nation. Mr Arko-Cole said this at a press briefing to launch the 12th SRC Week Celebration of the GSM in Accra.

The celebration is under the theme: "Towards Greater Professional Discipline, the Role of the Marketing Students."

He said some of the professional institutions that had agreed to join the association included marketing students of Institute of Professional Studies, Institute of Marketing Studies and Academy of Business Studies.

He said an interim executive had already been appointed to run the organization until permanent members were sworn into office next year.

The formation of the Association would expose problems facing marketing students and how to find solutions to them. Mr Arko-Cole said the GSM was set up to train and instil professional discipline into people who were desirous of studying marketing.

"As professionals, the issues of discipline are paramount as it creates the right working environment to achieve maximum results." He said the choice of the theme for the occasion brought to the fore subject of ethical, moral and social issues whether marketers and indeed all other professionals conformed to their principles.

He also appealed to the Charted Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) to expedite action on the new site project since the present state of the school made it difficult to mobilise students for other important programmes. 20 Oct. 03
