Samsung, the world's 9th best global brand and leading mobile handset brand in Ghana, has once again demonstrated leadership in mobile devices by introducing its latest galaxy smart phone in Ghana, the Galaxy Note II.

Samsung Ghana launched the device at a media experiential session in Accra on Monday, ahead of its launch in Africa, which is slated for October 18, 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is Wifi, LTE and Bluetooth ready; it has 2GB RAM, and an internal memory of up to 64GB, and SD slot for another up to 64GB memory; it has a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and 8 megapixel camera plus everything else that any of the Samsung smartphones have and more.

The new device, which follows after the Galaxy Note 1, is described as the first “phablet” from Samsung because it has both the features of a phone and a tablet.

“Galaxy Note II brings mobile experience to life by helping to explore user's passions and connect to the world on the go,” Samsung said in a statement.

It comes with a 5.5 inch touch screen, which Samsung described as the best display screen it has ever produced, plus a low screen reflectance, which makes for an excellent outdoor visibility of pictures, videos and even text.

Even though it is touch screen, it also has a much longer and thicker stylus pen (S Pen), which provides a great option for users who find typing on glass to be limiting.

The Galaxy Note II has the best and latest android jelly bean operating system 4.1.1 version with best security features as well and comes with extra template to choose from the S Note application.

Samsung West Africa Head of Hand Held Product, Jaspreet Singh said “Galaxy Note II is the first device to have come with the Android Jelly Bean Operating System so customers in Ghana are privileged to be among the first to have it.”

The device allows significantly improved handwriting of emails and sms messages, which could be automatically converted into text.

“We aspire to create new technologies and innovative products that inspire the world, while delivering new value to enhance the lives of our customers,” Singh said.

Andy Akpebu of Samsung Technical Support – HHP, said “the galaxy note II is the most powerful smart phone in the market currently and its features are unique and unparallel.”

“With the Galaxy Note II you run two or more programmes at the same time – watch movies, chat or facebook at the same time,” he said.

Andy Akpebu said some of its unique functionalities that require the S Pen include air view, pop up notes, popup videos, easy clip, quick command, idea sketch and photo note.

The air view feature allows the user to preview the details of the content of a picture, video or text without necessarily opening another window – so you see the other icons as you view the details of one by dragging it to the top of the screen.

Pop notes and pop videos allow the user to do multiple tasks on the same screen at the same time, while easy clip also allow the user to instantly cut and paste any content (picture/text) unto the screen and send by email or MMS, just by selecting an option with the S Pen.

Galaxy Note 2 Idea Sketch feature allows the user to just write what he or she wants to draw, and just with the right touches with the S Pen, the phone sketches the picture.

The photo note features allows the user to keep one's memories on the back of pictures on the phone for easy remembrance of what occasion particular photos were taken.

Andy Akpebu said even though the phone is multi-tasking, its battery life has proven to survive for up to 36 hours when all the multiple functions are in use continuous.

“This the phone with the best battery life on the market right now and I am serious about that because I have tried it personally.”

The device is currently available in all smartphone shops across country at an approved price in Ghana is GHC1,539, but managers of the company said the price could be less, and it comes with 24 months warranty, once is it bought from an approved dealer shops.
