Fiesta Royale Hotel donates to Ministry of Tourism

Accra, Sept. 23, GNA – The Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra, as part of its corporate social responsibility, on Saturday donated 100 packs of snacks and drinks to the Ministry of Tourism in Accra.

The donation was to support the Ministry's Ambassadorial tour to the Shai Hills Resource Reserve and the Akosombo Hydro Dam as part of activities to mark this year's World Tourism Day.

It also to expose heads of missions in Ghana to the country's tourism potentials.

The theme for the 2012 World Tourism Day celebration is “Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development".

Mr Neville Paul, General Manager of the hotel, said Fiesta Royal had always supported the Ministry to promote domestic tourism and the hospitality industry, adding “This donation is the fourth time the Hotel is making to the Ministry.”

He said Ghana had lots of attractive tourism potentials and that the Ministry's policy to partner with the private sector to develop the industry was a step in the right direction.

Mr Paul said his outfit would continue to support the programmes of the Ministry to achieve its goal of promoting tourism in the country and called on Ghanaians to market the tourism potentials to the world as it would help generate revenue for development.

Nana Kankam, a Senior Tourism Officer of the Ministry of Tourism, receiving the donation said, the Ambassadorial tour was introduced to promote domestic tourism.

He said a request was sent out to various institutions for sponsorship of the tour, adding Fiesta Royal had been a regular contributor to the promotion of domestic tourism.

Nana Kankam thanked the management of the hotel for their loyal support to the promotion of domestic tourism and appealed to other corporate institutions to emulate the example.
