AFAG SHOULD NOT ‘BEAT A DEAD HORSE’

18.09.2012 LISTEN
By HO-ANLOKORDZI BRANCH (NDC)

The planned demonstration by AFAG be held on the 25th of September, 2012 on the theme 'the voice of the people' to show their displeasure against the creation of additional 45 new constituencies, is just a matter of trying to beat a dead horse.

I am surprised members of AFAG are not abreast with the constitutional provision of this country.

I want to advise the members of the so called AFAG to go and get a copy of the 1992 Constitution of this country and read chapter 7 thus Article 45,46,47 and 48 respectively before they open their mouths to speak on this issue.

In my opinion, members of AFAG have no right to give the Electoral Commission the order not to go ahead with the creation of additional 45 constituencies.

They stated that, some organizations have come out to speak on the issue. My question to them is that, how many organizations do we have in the country and how many came out to speak on the issue?

My word of advice to the political parties against this constitutional provision especially the NPP, is that they should stop this hypocritical and uncivilized attitude by trying to paint a picture of anarchy when the 45 new constituencies are created.

AFAG, in my point of view can embark on their so called planned demonstration, but that will not in any way stop the implementation process.

Their demonstration should it come on 25th September, 2012, will just be a keep-fit exercise since most that of them have exercised their bodies for a long time.

The constituencies will be created no matter what, because it is a constitutional provision. They should allow the Electoral Commission to perform its functions. Those who think this will not become a reality should just wait and see!!!

God bless our homeland Ghana!!!
