Contemplating of suicide is unwise act - Prophet Nana Tih
15.09.2012 LISTEN

Kwabenya (GAR), Sept. 15, GNA – Prophet Solomon Douglas Nana Tih, General Overseer of the Bethel Kwabenya Prayer Ministry, has said it is unwise for a man to think of committing suicide and that under all situations one should place his trust in God.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but God delivers him out of them all,” he quoted from Psalm 34: 19.

Prophet Nana Tih said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency against the backdrop of the celebration of the International Day for Suicide Prevention which falls on every September 10.

The theme for the 2012 celebration was: “Suicide Prevention across the Globe: Strengthening Protective Factors and Instilling Hope.”

Prophet Nana Tih said the causes of suicide comes out of many human factors such as societal pressures or tension resulting from, debts, court issues, impotence and infertility in men and women and supernatural causes.

He said a number of people commit suicide just because they think that their wounds will continue and would never healed adding that afflictions are solved when one gives himself or herself to the Lord.

Quoting the Prophet Jeremiah 15:18-19, he said, “Why has my pain become chronic and my stroke incurable? It has refused to be healed. You positively become to me like something deceitful, like waters that have proved untrustworthy.

“Therefore this is what Jehovah has said: “If you will come back, then I shall bring you back. Before me you will stand. And if you will bring forth what is precious from valueless things, you will become like my own mouth. They themselves will come back to you, but you yourself will not come back to them.”

Prophet Nana Tih narrating his experience said “I nearly committed suicide when I lost all my capital when a container full of electrodes (welding metals) worth 50,000 US dollars which I imported from Europe was destroyed by termites at a warehouse.

“It was just by the grace of God when I was rescued by a group of some Christian worshipers at the Achimota Forest Reserves where I have gone to hang myself and it was there and then the Pastor in-charge of the worshipers led me to God.”

He said “there are seasons when it would appear your necessities in life would not end but always remember that no pain is forever. Each and everyone have a wound in life but all wounds are curable. Humans often see the delay in God's time but be assured that no condition is permanent and always rely on the Lord.”

The Prophet added; “If not by the grace of the Almighty I would been dead and may be gone to hell but today I am alive and God is using me to care for orphans, heading a big congregation and also supporting communities and the country as a whole.”

He entreated Ghanaians and all mankind to endeavour to entrust every situation in their lives into the hands of God for He is the redeemer.
