Residents in the Tamale, the Northern regional capital are threatening to embark on a demonstration against the management of VRA/NEDCO over the provision of new pre-paid meters in the system.

VRA/NEDCO over the past month is embarking on an exercise in the metropolis to replace existing meters with new pre-paid meters. But residents say the tariffs on the pre-paid meters /cards will bring difficulties and high cost of living, some of the regular complains were that , there is high consumption on those so called pre-paid meters , and therefore called for immediate replacement of those ,highly configured/adjusted meters to be removed from the system. They were quick to add that, there are several pre-paid meters in the system that could be used than this once.

Some Residents in the, Aboubo, Zogbeli, Lamashegu, Tishegu, Sabonjiba ,Changli, and others are threatening workers of VRA/NEDCO not to come into their area to replace the old meters with the new once since the meters are not well calibrated and consumes high .

According to some of them who spoke to this paper said, 10 cedis credit/Units last for only two weeks using only TV and ordinary house bulb and fans, whiles 5 cedis credit last for only 3 to 4 days using the same gaggers respectively as they are being told.

In another development, some concern residents in the same metropolis has also muse over the issue and called on the management of VRA/NEDCO to halt the exercise to bring sanity in the Metropolis.

Most of the residents who are already connected to the system have threatened to remove the meters themselves if VRA refuses to replace them with different prepaid meters.

Meanwhile, some of the few officials of VRA/NEDCO we met at the office express that, they were not the right persons to be spoken on the matter.
