The Baby and the Water

It is a chilling prospect to think that a parent could decide to drown his baby just because the baby has sharp teeth and could “bite hard”. That is why when a parent publicly declares to want to throw away his teething toddlers with the dirty water, then that parent really needs help.

Babies as we know them, learn from their parents. They would not know that their teeth could be used to bite people unless they saw their parents biting others with their teeth. Having shown the baby that it is a brilliant idea to be biting people and “spewing invectives”, it is plain wrong, and criminal to throw that innocent baby with the dirty water just because he/she copied that very behavior (or shall we say misbehavior) from his/her parent.

It is to be expected that babies would have sharp teeth, because theirs haven't been blunted by years of bone-chewing and other vicissitudes of eating. Where else would any baby, whose main company is the parent, know of such invectives as “greedy bastards” “stupid fools”, “empty heads”, “money-grabbing whores”, “nobodies”, “thieves”, etc, etc? How would they know that these are “haard” insults?

If any parent does not expect his baby to go about biting hard and spewing invectives at people, they should set a good example at home and the baby will not do otherwise.

Parents must be role models to their children. It is a trite but true observation, that when you throw a bouncy ball at the wall, it bounces back at you. If parents would not like their children to copy their bad behavior, they should not misbehave in front of those very children.

Parents should learn from Proverbs Chapter 22, Verse 6: “.Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. Those who have ears, let them hear.
