Miss Earth Is Yaa Kyekye

Jennifer Maame Yaa Kyekye Tete, a 20 year old medical student of the University of Ghana, was crowned Miss Earth Ghana 2012 last weekend in Accra and went home with a brand new car from Hyundai, GH¢ 10,000, wardrobe for one year from Da Viva, and will represent Ghana at the world finals of Miss Earth 2012 in Indonesia.

The show started off with 16 beautiful and intelligent young ladies striving for the opportunity to progress the cause of environmental protection and conservation.

After opening rounds of introductions, talent competition, and an Eco-Fashion showcase, Rhoda Nana Sakyiwaa Brown-Wood, Abena Dickson, Salma Chaana Abdul-Razak, Jennifer Maame Yaa Kyekye Tete, Selina Antwi, Martha Adae-Mensah, Irene Akendita Amoro, Valentina Aseye Eleblu, Farouza Bawah and Matilda Adjoa Densu were able to make it to the top 10.

They presented their various projects on environmental conservation to the judges and they were further pruned down to five, comprising Martha, Chaana, Aseye, Kyekye and Rhoda.

With her impressive performance at the question and answer time with the judges, Jennifer Maame Yaa Kyekye Tete came up tops when she impressed the judges on what she would do as Miss Earth Ghana to promote the conservation of the environment. At second place came Rhoda and third, Chaana Razak.

The green themed finale saw splendid performances by Kwabena Kwabena, Keche and Yaa Yaa. Miss Earth Ghana was sponsored by ACI Construction, Primus Africa, Somotex Ghana, Hyundai Daviva, Del Monte fruit juice and others.
