Wa, Sept. 22, GNA - Two armed robbers in the early hours of last Thursday attacked the GOIL Filling Station at Wa, disarmed the night watchman and stole eight million cedis.

They also took away a single barrelled gun belonging to the watchman, a bicycle, a telephone receiver, a wall clock, several fuel coupons, and Ghana Commercial Bank and Agricultural Development Bank chequebooks.

Inspector Daniel Dorkpor, Upper West Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the GNA that the robbers were armed with cutlasses and wore masks when they struck and that no arrests had been made.

The Upper West Regional Police Command has appealed to residents of Wa especially the business community and educational institutions not to keep money in their shops and offices in view of the spate of burglaries in the town in recent days.

A statement by the Command said the armed robbers had taken advantage of the current heavy rains during the night to break into shops and offices of educational institutions.

The statement called on the public to be vigilant at night especially during periods of heavy rains and prolonged power outages.
