The National Democratic Congress' parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Ras Mubarak, has described Alhaji Moctar Bamba as a “Boro Haram adherent” who must not be tolerated in the body politic and governance of Ghana's fledgling democratic dispensation.

At the launch of the New Patriotic Party's manifesto at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Center last Saturday, Alhaji Bamba, the National Organizer of the party stated that, Muslims should not “vote for President Mahama and his Vice because they are Christians” .

He advised that, if Muslims want to “see the Quran at the swearing-in ceremony on 7th January ,2013”, they must vote for the Nana Addo-Bawumia ticket since the latter is a Moslem and would swear by the Quran on his day of swearing-in as the next Vice President of Ghana.

Mr. Mubarak, speaking to The Republic on Monday stated that, the NPP's National Organizer's comments are divisive and could spark religious conflicts and intolerance as is seen in neighbouring Nigeria.

“The Zongo community must be wary of people like Moctar Bamba who are only selfish and in politics not to advance the cause of the ordinary people of Ghana but to enrich themselves at their expense.

“Christians and Moslems are all one people and have cohabited for generations in Ghana. The likes of Moctar Bamba would set this nation ablaze; they would set up Christians against Moslems and throw this beautiful country into the brink war if not watched. In this day and age, why must you appeal to the electorate to vote against someone because he is not a Moslem?”, he quizzed.

The Ablekuma North parliamentary candidate also added that, Alhaji Bamba's “position on politics is no different from the terrorists in Maghreb and Northern Nigeria. He and his NPP are engaged in Cold War espionage”

Ras Mubarak explained that, anybody wanting to lead must be measured on the scale of competence, integrity and love to serve the nation and not on the parameters of factors that divide us as a people.

Former President Rawlings he said, even though a Christian did a lot for the Moslem community when he was in power and supported their cause. “Under late President Mills and this NDC administration, the annual Hajj pilgrimage organizations have been one of success in its history as compared to the shambolic manner it was handled even when a Moslem, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, was the Vice-President to Kufour for eight years when the NPP was in power”

Mr. Mubarak appealed to all Moslems in the country to reject any form of political campaign that sought to incite them against Christians and other faiths
