Accra, Aug 20, GNA – At the end of the month long fasting period, the Progressive People's Party (PPP) has called on Muslims and Ghanaians to shun politicians who use insulting language, promote violence and sow seeds of division in the country.

A statement signed by Kofi Asamoah-Siaw and issued to the GNA, said the PPP joins our Moslem brothers and sisters in celebrating the successful end of the fasting period which was an opportunity to deepen our spiritual relationship with Almighty Allah, seek purity and do right to all.

It said this year's festival is significant because it is happening in an election year and appealed to all to continue to pray for peace and unity in the country as we approached the elections.

The statement called on all Moslems to vote for competent and incorruptible leaders as the nation needed leaders with the capacity to transform all our communities and help provide the basic necessities of life.

It said the PPP aims to build a nation state based on the principle of inclusiveness and creating opportunities for every Ghanaian irrespective of their religion, ethnicity and gender.
