Hohoe, Aug 16, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hohoe-North Constituency primary to select a parliamentary candidate on Thursday witnessed intense disagreement over its legitimacy.

Mr Prince-Jacob Hayibor, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), said issues about the election were in court and therefore any meeting for the purpose of organising primary in the constituency was illegal.

He said he would pursue actions to hold individuals and body corporate, including the executives of the NDC at various levels accountable for organising an illegal constituency congress.

The Hohoe-North Constituency Primary was called-off in January this year as a result of a court suit initiated by one Mr Lovejoy Aniapa.

A Hohoe High Court at the time gave the plaintiff and defendants up to July 31st to strive to settle the intra-party matter, which was on the eligibility for the Electoral College and other matters.

Maxwell Owusu-Siaw, NDC Regional Organizer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the plaintiff had walked out during arbitrations twice and that there was the need to get a candidate and put the constituency in readiness for the national congress of the NDC on August 31, this year.

He said Mr Aniapa had not used the internal conflict resolution mechanisms of the party before resorting to the courts.

E.W.K. Aklorbortu, Volta Regional NDC Vice-Chairman, said Mr Hayibor had no cause to be absent from the primary
