Capacity workshop for rural community CBOs

Gomoa Ankamu (C/R), Sept. 18, GNA - The World Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning is organising capacity building workshops for Community-Based organisations CBOs in the Gomoa District.

They form part of the implementation of the Rural Financing and Services Project (RFSP) aimed at equipping CBOs with skills to manage income-generating ventures to make them efficient.

Three CBOs, Ankamu Women's welfare Association, Gomoa Ankamu Women's Association and Mprumem Women and Youth Development Association have so far benefited.

Ghartey and Associates, a consultancy firm based in Accra is handling the workshop on behalf of the organisers.

Speaking to newsmen at Gomoa Ankamu, Alhaji Osaman Moro Fukuyamah, National Co-ordinator of Women and Youth Development Association (WOYODA), called on women to form groups to enable them benefit from credit facilities and training by the government and donor agencies to enhance their standard of living.

"Women can say goodbye to poverty if they take advantage of these facilities, he said.

Mr Adom Baisie-Ghartey, Executive Director of the firm, said the training would enable the participants to improve their capacity in governance and finance management to enable them have access to credit. He said civil societies including "Susu" groups, Co-operatives, NGOs and CBOs with micro finance focus would benefit from the programme.
