Kufuor wants to deceive Ghanaians with his blind partisan thoughts-PPP

The Progressive People's Party has criticised a statement by former President J.A Kufuor at the 2nd Liberty Lecture on Thursday to the effect that, the NPP's presidential candidate is the best among the contestants vying for the presidency this December.

Speaking on the theme; “Development in Freedom: Empowering the People to Build the Nation” at the 2nd Liberty Lecture of the Danquah Institute at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the former president said the party's slogan for the 2000 elections, “hwe W'asetena Mu Na To Aba Pa" to wit examine your standard of living and vote wisely, is very apt for today.

“I have no doubt the NPP flagbearer is the most rounded and experienced on the field and has tried and tested team of would-be ministers...Most of them I worked with in government and I can vouch for them,” ex-president Kufuor stated.

But the Progressive People's Party says Mr. Kufuor could have done better if he had chosen to stay "the statesman's level instead of playing the NPP propaganda".

“Indeed the PPP has been asking Ghanaians to compare the three serious Presidential Candidates, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, President John Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo using their personal, private sector and public service experience and vote for the one with the best track record.

However, we find it quite disturbing that Mr. Kufuor wants to deceive Ghanaians with his blind partisan thoughts,” the PPP said in a statement issued on Friday and signed by its National Chairman, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw.

The statement said the PPP “expected Mr. Kufuor to use a formal lecture to educate and inform Ghanaians in a manner that promotes truthfulness and national prosperity. Unfortunately, he chose to turn the lecture into a pedestrian political platform talk”.
