LONDON (AFP) - South Africa, after winning the toss, were 262 for seven against England at stumps on the first day of the third Test at Lord's on Thursday.

Vernon Philander was 46 not out and Dale Steyn 21 not out when bad light ended play for the day.

South Africa lead this three-match series 1-0 and only need to avoid defeat to replace England as the world's number one ranked Test side.
