Two arrested for robbing Indian woman

Police have arrested two suspected armed robbers for robbing an Indian tenant at the Trade Fair site at La, a suburb of Accra. They are currently in custody, assisting the police in investigations.

The suspects- Daniel NiiAyi Annan,30, a labourer,Richard Antwi, 27,a barber – were arrested at the cemetery behind the Trade Fair, after they had robbed their victim off her valuable items, including a bag containing diamond,gold dresses,and an amount of GH¢700.

Briefing the press in Accra yesterday, the Accra Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Frank Adufati, said on August 5, 2012, at about 1:00a.m., two men, armed with a dagger and cutlass, used a ladder to climb a storey building and gained ingress into the bedroom of an Indian tenant.

He said the suspects attacked the victim, one Muttalimari, inflected knife wounds on her hand, and made away with a bag containing valuables and cash.

According to him, the victim raised an alarm, but the robbers managed to escape, leaving a dagger behind.

He said on August 8, 2012, at about 9:15a.m., upon intelligence the police gathered,the suspects Daniel NiiAyi Annan and Richard Antwi, together with six others, were arrested  at the cemetery.

Upon interrogation, the suspects denied their involvement, but unfortunately for them, on that same day, the victim identified the two suspects as her attackers. Meanwhile, the police are still investigating the case.
