Akropong Akuapem (E/R), Aug 16, GNA - Past students of the Holy Mount Sinai Senior High School at Akropong Akuapem, have been urged to support the authorities to transform the existing structures of the school.

Mrs Margaret Ansah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Akropong, said this during a “home-coming” durbar of the Association at Akropong Akuapem on Wednesday.

The durbar, which attracted both past and continuing students, was aimed at soliciting support from members of the Association to help raise funds to complete the ongoing 18-unit classroom block and a library complex for the school.

She appealed to all past students of the school in various positions across the country to help their alma mater.

Mrs Ansah promised to donate 10 laptop computers to equip the school computer laboratory and urged the students to take their classes seriously in order to come out with flying colours in their final examinations.

Mr Fredua Agyemang, the Progressive People's Party's Parliamentary Candidate, commended the Association for their contributions to the development of the school.

He urged the students and members of the Association to support his bid to become a Member of Parliament for the area and thereby contribute meaningfully to the school's development.

Mr Agyemang donated GHȼ1,000.00 towards the completion of the library complex.

The Chairman of the Association, Mr Samuel Appenteng, said the Association was ready to contribute to the school and urged all past students both home and abroad to come and support the development of their alma mater.

He expressed his happiness at seeing the school which was established in 1998 with only eight students and now has a student population of more than 1,500.

Mr Appenteng said one major problem confronting the school was lack of dormitories for boys and accommodation for tutors and appealed to the government for assistance.
