Mohammed Yussif had pleaded not guilty to the crime.

Detective Sergeant Jonas Adjei told the court that the complainant, Abdul Rahman, is the father of the victim, aged 10 years and a class five pupil.

He said they live in the same Nkrankrom community near Sreso-Timpom in the Atwima-Mponua District with the convict.

Detective Sergeant Adjei said about eight months ago, the mother of the girl, then expecting another baby, developed complications with her pregnancy and had to undergo surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

He said the complainant was forced to stay with the wife during the period of her hospitalization in Kumasi and when the couple returned to Nkrankrom after her discharge, they detected a change in the gaiety of the girl.

Detective Sergeant Adjei said in addition to this was the frequency of her getting sick and she finally told the father the cause of her concerns and how Yussif had given her GH¢2.00 and on three different occasions sexually abused her.

He said the victim was sent to the Nyinahin Government Hospital for treatment and a formal report made to the police.
