Wa, Aug. 9, GNA – Reverend Dr. Paul Frimpong Manso, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana on Wednesday impressed on all political leaders that life was fragile and they all needed to handle it with maximum care.

In the same vein, he advised that the lives and destinies of the people of Ghana were so dear that they must not be sacrificed on the altar of ambition, greed and personal aggrandizement.

He said the church and the entire people of Ghana were expecting to see decent electioneering campaigns devoid of insults, acrimony, hatred and chaos.

Reverend Dr. Frimpong Manso was addressing reverend ministers and delegates of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, at its 26th Biennial General Council Meeting held in Wa.

Reverend Dr. Frimpong Manso acknowledged that God had provided peace in Ghana and pleaded that no single individual or group of persons should make any attempt to derail it.

He urged the media and its associates to help in that crusade and desist from echoing and re-echoing the “childish” and inflammatory remarks of some people whose aims were to cause confusion.

The media must not give platform to rumour mongers, rubble rousers and hot-headed politicians, who for their selfish desire did not care what happened to the people.

Reverend Dr. Frimpong Manso called on the Christian Community not to relent in their intercessory responsibility but continue to make supplications to God on behalf of the nation.

“We all have a part to play in shaping the spiritual, moral and economic destiny of our nation. Let us collaborate with the current and future governments in the work of nation building. Let us roll up our sleeves, bend our knees and gear up for the total salvation of our people”, he advised.

The General Superintendent said the church had been in the frontline of providing social support, school, clinics and other communal amenities to supplement governments' efforts.

He said at present, the church has more than 130 primary and secondary schools and was in the process of establishing a university college as well as setting up the Assemblies of God Educational Unit to handle their activities.

The church was also committed to its cardinal mandate of reaching out to the lost world and reconciling mankind to God, he said.

“Our efforts have reaped a good harvest and we can now report of more than 2,500 churches spreading across Ghana with 1,500 pastors manning them”.

Reverend Dr. Frimpong Manso gave the assurance that this year; the Upper West Region was targeted as a mission zone and would see massive evangelistic activities.

Reverend Daniel Ayembilla, Upper West Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, called for harnessing and maximum utilisation of resources available in the region for the progress of the Church.

He appealed for material support for the sustenance of the mission work in the region.
