rLG Supports Mill's Funeral

rLG Communications Limited, a mobile phone and computer assembling and training company, has presented an amount of GH¢500,000 to the government towards the organization of the funeral for the late President John E. A. Mills.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of rLG, Roland Agambire, presenting the amount to the Funeral Planning Committee towards the holding of the three-day funeral at a short ceremony at the State House, said the late law professor was a mentor and father to him and the youth of the country, especially those who benefitted from his 'Better Ghana' agenda.

'Just as I wrote in the Book of Condolence, Prof. Mills was a mentor and a father not only to me but many of the country's youth, most especially those who benefitted from his better Ghana agenda under which the ICT module of the NYEP was expanded to benefit many of them. Today 50 of them have decided to forego their two-month allowances to bid our departed father farewell.'

In a related development, the association of fishermen from Kromantin, Amomabo, Biriwa, Elmina, Ankaful and Abanze in the Central region, also presented fish to the funeral planning committee.

The donation included large quantities of smoked and fresh groupers, cattle fish, tuna, sea bream and tilapia.

Kwaku Nicol, Chairman of the National Premix Committee, making the presentation on behalf of the fishermen, said the fishermen had benefited from the late president's policies.

He said as a result of the policies initiated by the late president, schools, hospitals, community centers, filling stations and many more had been constructed.

'This was initiated by the late Prof. Atta Mills, hence we are being supportive by donating this assorted fishes to the funeral committee for the burial,' he said.

Nana Amoako Essah III, chairman of the fishermen association added, 'We really appreciate what he did for us and may his perfect soul rest in perfect peace. On behalf of the central fishermen, we exempt Friday's fishing to honour our dear late president.'

Akua Sena Danso, Minister of Tourism and member of the funeral planning committee, in response, expressed gratitude to RLG and the fishermen for their immense contribution.

'We are very grateful for all that you have done and we hope that other cooperate institutions will take a cue from this and help to lessen the burden or the cost of this huge state funeral for our departed president,' she said.

She also assured the fishermen that the initiatives of the late president such as the establishment of the London Harbour would continue.

'We would make sure that the fished donated would be used appropriately as expected for his burial,' she said.
